Honeybees face Spitfires in home double header

The Minot Honeybees played their two latest games against the Grand Forks Spitfires as part of a four game home series on Wednesday, July 8.
The Honeybees returned from a short break after their sweeping loss against the Madison Night Mares over the weekend to a loss against the Spitfires on Tuesday.
The first game of Wednesday’s double header once again started out sow for the Honeybees at the plate, but the Minot defense showed resolve through the first two innings of play, allowing just a single run in the top of the second.
Heading into the third inning of the game, the Spitfires regained the previous night’s momentum at home plate, scoring five runs and bringing their lead to 6-0.
The Spitfires extended their lead to double digits in the top of the fourth inning with another four runs.
The Honeybees put their first runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning, with Alex Serbio running home on a fielder’s choice and Clare Rettler scoring on a sacrifice fly.
The Honeybees scored once more in the bottom of the sixth inning with Ellen Tarjan finder her way to home plate with thanks to an RBI single by Reagan Winn.
The Spitfires took an early lead again in their second game of the night, leading 3-1 over the Honeybees in the top of the third inning at deadline.
The Honeybees and the Spitfires will face off one more time this series, finishing out their four games on Thursday, July, 9. After Thursday’s game, the Honeybees will face off against the La Crosse Steam in a four game series beginning on Tuesday, July 14.
