For just one night, Thursday night, July 30, to be exact, the Minot Hot Tots hung up their usual uniforms and traded them in for a brand new look.

Minot’s usual players took to the field Thursday night for the first and only time this season as the Minot Mullets.

Though their uniforms on the field were different, the Hot Tots’ strong offense was still in full force on behind the plate as they kicked off their final home series against the Bismarck Larks.

Though the Larks were first on the scoreboard, netting two runs in the top of the first inning, the Mullets were quick to respond.

John Freitag was the first to put the Mullets on the board, hitting a sacrifice fly to let Jaxon Goldberg score from third. Micah McCoy first put the Mullets over the edge, securing an inside the park grand slam just a few at bats later and giving them a 5-2 lead.

The Larks did not let up behind the plate, tying the game in the very next inning with a home run of their own, bringing them to 5-5.

The Mullets were unable to respond, allowing the Larks to build back their lead in the top of the fourth, securing two additional runs.

The score stayed at 7-5 clear through to the bottom of the eighth inning, when two back to back RBI singles gave the Mullets their lead back at 8-7. Then, before the Larks could secure their third out of the inning, Alex Altmann secured the teams’s second home run of the evening, this time over the left field fence. Altmann’s home run secured an additional three runs for the Mullets.

With the Larks unable to respond to a four run deficit in the top of the ninth, the Mullets secured the victory with a final score of 11-7.

Though the Minot Mullets will not be returning to the field any time soon, the Minot Hot Tots will be back in their usual uniforms to take on the Bismarck Larks once more at Corbett Field on Friday, July 31.

Starting at /week.
