Rain or shine, World of Outlaws Late Model driver Bobby Pierce has been unbeatable on the dirt track recently.

Mother Nature wasn’t going to rain on his parade as Pierce and the rest of the World of Outlaws Late Models series came to Minot for the only time this year. Starting on the outside of the front row, Pierce overtook pole winner Tyler Erb and Ethan Dotson on the backstretch of the opening lap and never surrendered the lead, running in front for all 38 laps of the rain-shortened features race for his fifth victory in a row on Sunday, June 28, at Nodak Speedway. The race was scheduled for 50 laps.

Pierce was making his second career trip to Nodak Speedway after placing runner-up in his debut last year. Tim McCreadie won at the Playground of Power in 2025.

It’s been a memorable tour across the Midwest thus far for Pierce, who has now won consecutive races at 141 Speedway in Maribel, Wisc., Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, Minn., I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minn., River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks and now Nodak Speedway. Pierce now has 15 wins on the season, setting a new career record for the Oakwood, Ill., native with four months of racing still left on the calendar. Pierce sits just three wins shy of matching the single-season World of Outlaws win record of 18 set by both Josh Richards and Brandon Sheppard. Richards set the mark in 2016 and Sheppard matched in both 2017 and 2019.

Nick Hoffman started the race in sixth, but finished second to keep pace with Pierce in the points standings. McCreadie had another strong showing at Nodak Speedway, taking third after starting back in 15th. Dennis Erb Jr and Tyler Erb rounded out the top five. Twenty-five drivers competed in the feature race.

Pierce, Tyler Erb and Dustin Sorensen won their respective heats. Sorensen started fifth and took sixth overall.

Pierce currently holds a 72-point lead on Hoffman with 4,923 points. He received 150 points for the victory, while Hoffman picked up 146 points. Pierce has finished in the top 10 in all 34 starts this season, the only driver to accomplish that feat. He has 26 top-five finishes to go along with his 15 victories. Hoffman is the only other driver to have won more than two races on the season, visiting victory lane six times. His last win came at the Blaster 57 Special at Mansfield Speedway (Ohio) on May 30. He leads all drivers with 28 top-five finishes.

The World of Outlaws Late Models feature race included five North Dakota natives. Amelia Eisenschenk (Fargo), Jeremiah LaDue (Trenton), Collin Compson (Valley City), Laela Eisenschenk (Fargo) and Michael Hartigan (Dickinson) all qualified for the main race. Austin Harris (Belcourt) and Randy Sandvick (Killdeer) competed in the heat races, but didn’t qualify for the main event.

The World of Outlaws Late Models return to Minnesota for their next four races before heading East. They are in Ada, Minn., on Tuesday, June 30, for the World of Outlaws Start to Finish Showdown at Norman County Raceway before spending three consecutive nights in Spring Valley, Minn., at Deer Creek Speedway for the World of Outlaws Napa Auto Parts Gopher 50 from July 2-4.

While the rain didn’t have too much of an impact on the World of Outlaws events, it did result in the cancelation of the IMCA Modifieds feature that was originally scheduled. They were able to get in the three sets of heat races. Brady Bjella won Heat 1, while Les McLenehan and Aaron Turnbull won Heat 2 and Heat 3, respectively.

Racing returns to Nodak Speedway for two nights of racing this weekend, beginning on Saturday, July 4, with a fireworks special after the races. Six classes will be participating, including Wingless Sprints, Legends, Slingshots, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods and IMCA Stock Cars. Sunday, July 5, features the Dakota Classic Modified Tour with IMCA Stock Cars also partaking. Both nights of racing begin at 7 p.m.

Starting at $3.75/week.
