Brody Johnson gave the Magicians the lead in the second inning with an RBI double to score King and Deaver followed with a two-run single to right, driving in Johnson and Schindler.
The Magicians added three more in the third as the Saints committed four errors in the frame – three in the first three at-bats. Anderson led off the inning and reached base safely on a fielding error at first base. Another error at first base allowed Jordan to get on base. Anderson moved to third on an error by St. Mary’s starting pitcher Colter Bartsch and scored on a sacrifice fly from Deschamp.
Back-to-back doubles from King and Schindler each drove in runs to give Minot High a 6-0 lead after three innings.
The Saints cut the deficit in half with a three-run fifth, recording three of their five hits. St. Mary’s loaded the bases with no outs and Jacoby Grimm drove in a run with a single to shortstop. Peyton Koppy scored on a fielder’s choice and Maddux Gerving ripped an RBI single to center to plate Dylan Iverson.
