Class B State Baseball: Aggies out of state title contention, Lakers fight for fifth place
The second day of competition in the 2026 NDHSAA Class B Baseball State Tournament kicked off in Jamestown on Friday, May 29.
Velva-Drake/Anamoose 0, Kindred 12
The Velva-Drake/Anamoose Aggies were shut out in the semifinals match against the Kindred High School Vikings on Friday night.
The Aggies had trouble getting momentum behind the plate, earning just three runs over their five innings at bat. The Vikings took charge early in the game, scoring their first two runs in the bottom of the first inning and scoring every inning through their four total.
The Aggies will play against the Thompson High School Tommies for the chance at a third place finish on Saturday, May 30, beginning 35 minutes after the conclusion of the fifth place game.
Des Lacs-Burlington 7, LaMoure/Litchville-Marion/Edgeley 4
The Lakers earned their first victory of the State Tournament on Friday with their win over the LaMoure/Litchville-Marion/Edgeley Loboes.
Both teams were tied at 1-1 at the end of the first inning, but the Lakers quickly pulled ahead through the third, fourth and fifthininngs, scoring six additional runs during the three innings at bat.
The Lakers’ defense held strong against the Loboes through the rest of the game, allowing just three runs through the last six innings of play.
The Lakers’ victory over the Loboes advanced them to the fifth place game, where they will play against the Shiloh Christian Skyhawks, set to begin 3 minutes after the end of the seventh place game.
