Boys Golf: Magicians claim Williston Invite to close out regular season
The Minot High boys golf team continued its torrid run through the regular season, capturing the Bakken Classic with a team score of 292 on Tuesday, May 19, at The Links of North Dakota in Williston. It was the Magicians’ sixth tournament title of the year and secured them the WDA regular season championship.
Minot High finished well in front of its competition, besting tournament-host Williston and Dickinson by 15 strokes. The Coyotes finished with a 307 cumulative score, tying them with the Mavericks. Bismarck St. Mary’s took fourth with a 309 and Bismarck Century carded a 312. Minot North was seventh with 328.
Easton Bradley led the Magicians with a 2-under 70 to finish one stroke behind tournament champion Paxton Fridley of Dickinson. Tripp Toepfer shot a 73 to place fifth and Parker Argent cracked the top 10 with a ninth-place finish, shooting a 74. Connor Ressler rounded out the team score with a 75 to finish 11th overall.
Bradley opened his round with five birdies on his first six holes. He finished with six birdies for his round.
Fridley recorded five birdies on his round and parred the final hole to give him medalist honors.
Toepfer registered four birdies, while Argent and Ressler had three and two birdies, respectively.
Kyler Weishaar was Minot North’s top golfer on the day, finishing tied for 12th with a 76. He birdied two holes and recorded an eagle on the par-5 18th.
Teegan Dangel (82), Kaden Carlson (84) and Walter Langhans (86) rounded out Minot North’s team score.
Postseason competition is up next for Minot High and Minot North, as they tee off in the WDA Tournament on Tuesday, May 26, at Prairie West Golf Course in Mandan.
