Boys Golf: Bishop Ryan among Class B state qualifiers
The Bishop Ryan boys golf team qualified for the state tournament for the first time since 2013 after its fourth-place finish at the Regions 3 & 4 Tournament at Jamestown Country Club on Tuesday, May 26. The Lions punched their ticket by a single stroke over Valley City, grabbing the fourth and final spot, as the top four teams from each of the three regional tournaments played across the state qualified for the state tournament.
At the Region 1 & 2 Tournament at CrossRoads Golf Club in Carrington, North Star took home the tournament title with a team score of 292. Defending Class B champion Oak Grove also qualified with a second-place finish at 298. May-Port-CG (306) and Kindred (307) rounded out the state qualifiers.

Oak Grove has won the last two state titles and has three championships dating back to 2021. The state champion has come from Regions 1 & 2 every year since 2018, with Kindred, Oak Grove and Central Cass all winning titles during that stretch. Tioga is the last champion coming from outside of Regions 1 & 2.
Westhope-Newburg’s Tiger Lee carded an even-par 72 to win the Region 3 & 4 tournament by two strokes over Rugby’s Bryce Zietz. Lee recorded two birdies and two bogeys on his round.

Altringer tied for seventh with a 79 and Olson shot an 81 to place 12th to lead their respective teams.
