The Minot High boy’s golf team secured first place in their home invite on Friday, May 1, after one round of play at the Souris valley Golf Course.
The Magicians have been on a tear through the regular season this year, taking first place in each of their WDA invites. Two members of their team have found themselves consistently leading the Magi to victory, sophomore Parker Argent and junior Easton Bradley.
Argent and Bradley both gave an expert showing on the course on Friday, tying for first place individually with scores of one under par at the end of the round. They were the only two to go under par in the tournament.
Argent started out on the first hole of the Souris Valley Golf Course as first seed for the Magi, and he had a tough front nine.
Argent started out easy with pars on the first two holes, but quickly fell behind with back to back bogeys on the third and fourth holes. He then hit par after par until the tenth hole, where he earned his first birdie for the day.
Argent’s back nine played much smoother, earning three additional birdies on the 11th, 14 and 16th holes. Argent ended the round with a bogey on the eighteenth hole, leaving him at one under par for the round.
Bradley’s round was much more spread out. He started on the 18th hole and had a his first birdie and bogey back to back on the third and fourth holes of the course. Bradley earned his second birdie of the day on the 11th hole and his third on the 15th before getting his last bogey on the 16th to also end with a score of one under par.
Argent and Bradley led the Magi to yet another tournament victory with a team score of 293, five strokes over par. St. Mary’s took second place with a team score of 304, 16 strokes over par.
Junior Connor Ressler and freshman Parker Wallner were the next bets placing Magi, finishing tied for seventh place with their individual scores of three over par.
The Magi get just a night’s rest before getting back in the tee boxes for their next tournament at the Rolla Country Club in the Turtle Mountain Community High School Invite on Saturday, May 2.
