A busy recruiting season continues for Minot State head coach Wyatt Waselenchuk, who made a big signing this week with a hometown star.

Minot State’s men’s hockey head coach is pleased to announce the addition of star defenseman Anthony McIntosh, a local product and the step-son of former Beavers’ ACHA National Champion player and assistant coach Jared McIntoch.

Jared played for the Beavers’ ACHA National Championship team in 2012-13 and was an assistant coach for the 2022-23 Minot State ACHA National Championship team.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have Anthony here at Minot State,” Coach Waselenchuk said. “It’s a special, full-circle moment for us, as we’ve had the pleasure of watching him grow up here as a young man and as a hockey player.

“Anthony’s dad, Jared, is a huge part of the hockey landscape here in Minot, and with the history and family connection to our program, the fit just couldn’t be more perfect. He’s a product of the Minot Hockey Boosters program, having worked with our current coach Brian Bauman, so once again, it’s just a very special connection to have Anthony here.”

A 5-foot-11, 165-pound defenseman from Minot, North Dakota, Anthony McIntosh most recently played in 57 games with the Kenai River Brown Bears of the NAHL where he scored 8 goals and had 15 assists.

“I want to thank my family, teammates, and coaches for always supporting me,” McIntosh said. “Being able to play in my hometown means a lot, and I take great pride in representing where I’m from.

“I’m really excited to join the team this coming fall.”

McIntosh joins the Beavers as a freshman on the ice and in the classroom in the fall of 2026.

Prior to this past season in Alaska, McIntosh played in 49 games for the North Iowa Bulls of the NAHL, where he had 2 goals and 6 assists in 2024-25. He started his junior hockey career playing 51 games with the Yorkton Terriers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in 2023-24, where he had 12 goals and 25 assists.

“Anthony plays the game the right way,” Waselenchuk said. “He works extremely hard, and his ceiling is incredibly high. He’s done nothing but put the work in, year after year, and you could really see his game take off in the second half of this past season. He’s going to be a big piece to our future success here.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
