Majettes sweep Wolves in home double header

The Minot High varsity softball team swept the Watford City High School Wolves in their home double header 17-7 and 18-7 on Wednesday afternoon, Apr. 29.
The Wolves were quick out of the gate in the first of the pair of games, taking four runs in the top of the first inning while allowing just one in the bottom of the first for the Majettes.
The Wolves widened their lead to 1-5 in the top of the second inning, but the Majettes took an explosive and decisive lead in the bottom of the inning.
The Majettes drew a walk on loaded bases to score their second run of the game in the bottom of the second inning, and that run led to three more scoring play right after each other, totaling six runs.
The Majettes scored twice more in the bottom of the second before the Wolves’ defense could secure their third out.
The Majettes held off the Wolves in the tops of the third and fourth innings while earning themselves four and two additional runs respectively.
The Wolves scored two more in the top of the fifth inning, but Minot scored a final two runs in the bottom of the inning to close out the game with a 17-7 victory.
The second game of the afternoon started out much faster for the Majettes. The Wolves scored just a single run in the top of the first inning, while scoring five of their own.
The Wolves took the lead back in the top of the second inning at 5-6, but Minot quickly took the lead back with three additional runs.
The Majettes scored four additional runs in the third and fourth innings and an additional two run in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Wolves scored just one more run in the top of the fifth, ending the game with another Majette victory at 18-7 after the fifth inning.
The Majettes will stay at home for their next game as they take on Legacy High School on Friday, May 1.
