Girls Tennis: Majettes register second straight sweep of Williston

For the second time in as many days, the Minot High girls tennis team squared off against Williston and for the second time in as many days, the Majettes swept the Coyotes.

The Majettes dropped just four sets during singles play en route to a 7-0 victory against Williston in a non-conference match on Tuesday, April 14. The only difference this time around was the location, as it was played in Williston as compared to the Cameron Indoor Tennis Center the day before.

Grace Olson and Sydney Brown both won their singles matches without dropping a game, topping Aslyn Engh and Katelyn Hanig, respectively. Kyllie Fettig defeated Avy Ator, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 singles and Ava Thuner bested Frances Mansibang, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.

The most competitive match of the day came in No. 1 doubles featuring Minot High’s Alivia Sherven and McKenna Odahlen, and Williston’s Dani Tinklenberg and Massa Kpan. In a back-and-forth opening set, the Majettes (3-0) came out on top 7-5 before cruising to a 6-0 second set.

Ella Sherven and Kyndal McNichols won their match 6-0, 6-2, and Bristol Bolton and Chelsey Zieska did the same with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Minot High plays Minot North in a WDA match on Wednesday, April 15, at Hammond Park at 2 p.m.
