Girls Soccer: Roberts nets 4 as Sentinels cruise past Coyotes
The Minot North girls soccer team didn’t need any late-game heroics against Williston on Tuesday, March 31, in its second game of the season.
Junior forward Kohlee Roberts had a hat trick by halftime and finished with four goals as the Sentinels routed visiting Williston, 9-0, at Sentinel Stadium. Six players scored goals and eight registered at least a point.
The Sentinels (2-0-0 overall, 2-0-0 WDA) opened their season with a comeback victory over Bismarck Legacy, getting goals from Julia Lewis in the 71st minute and Thalia Lewis in the 75th minute to emerge with a 2-1 victory. On Tuesday, the Sentinels scored in the opening minute and never looked back, netting five goals in the first 40 minutes and four more in the second half.
Rie Lonning started the scoring onslaught in the first 60 seconds and Roberts followed with two goals in the span of a minute to give the Sentinels a 3-0 lead 15 minutes into the match. Ella Nelson added their fourth in the 21st minute and Roberts completed a first-half hat trick in the 28th minute.
It was more of the same in the second half. Morgan Orth, Anistyn Perrin, Julia Lewis and Roberts netted goals over the final 40 minutes. Julia Lewis and Perrin each had a goal and two assists. Lonning, Nelson and Orth all registered a goal and an assist.
Minot North goalkeeper Camryn Guy didn’t face a single shot as the Sentinels outshot the Coyotes 35-0. Williston’s Jenna Heck finished with 26 saves. Minot North has outshot its opponents 70-6 over the first two matches.
The Sentinels host Minot High on Tuesday, April 7, at Sentinel Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
