Women’s Basketball: Wolves spoil Senior Day, rally past Beavers
The Minot State women’s basketball team couldn’t hold onto an early lead, falling to Northern State, 72-63, on Senior Night at the MSU Dome on Saturday, Feb. 21.
Izzy Moore scored more than half of her team’s points, pouring in 37 points on 14 of 27 shooting, knocking down six 3s.
The Beavers led 25-11 at the end of the first quarter and 36-31 at halftime. The Wolves grabbed a one-point lead at 54-53 at the end of the third period and pulled away in the fourth.
Jessica Mogen led the Beavers with 19 points. Taryn Hamling also finished in double figures, netting 15 points. The Beavers went just 4-for-19 from behind the 3-point line. They missed 14 of their final 15 3s.
The Beavers honored their four seniors – Natalie Holte, Jamie Skeggs, Taylor Goss and Lorelei Nelson – prior to the game.
Minot State plays at Winona State in the first round of the NSIC Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m. Winona State won the regular season meeting, 74-64, on Jan. 31.
