Women’s Basketball: Dragons pull away from Beavers in second half
Tied at halftime, the Minot State women’s basketball team was outscored by nine points in the second half, suffering a 76-67 loss to Minnesota State Moorhead on Saturday, Feb. 14, at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.
Jessica Mogen poured in a team-high 23 points and Taryn Hamling and Tiyahna Trottier added 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Moorhead’s Abby Berge recorded a double-double with 28 points and 14 rebounds.
The teams went to the locker room tied at 37, but the Dragons (12-12 overall, 9-11 NSIC) led by as many as nine in the third quarter and entered the fourth with a 57-49 lead. The Dragons stretched their advantage to 11 in the fourth with 5:30 remaining and the Beavers never got closer than six the rest of the game.
The Beavers (10-17, 7-13) were whistled for 25 fouls, with three players finishing with four fouls. The Dragons went 25-33 from the free-throw line.
Moorhead held a 35-23 edge in rebounds.
Minot State heads to Jamestown to play the Jimmies on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 5:30 p.m.
