Men’s Wrestling: Beavers drop duals to Augustana, Sioux Falls
The Minot State men’s wrestling team closed out the regular season with a pair of conference dual losses to Augustana and Sioux Falls. The Beavers fell 43-12 to the No. 11 Vikings on Friday, Feb. 13, and 31-14 to the Cougars on Saturday, Feb. 14.
Cole Faircloth won both of his matches over the weekend for the Beavers at 133 pounds, pinning Augustana’s Braiden Kort In 3:34 and won a 12-6 decision over Sioux Fall’s Bray Skinner. The Beavers won two matches against the Vikings, the only one coming via Ethan Wonser at 141 after Alex Mentzer was forced to retire 1:30 into the match due to injury.
The Vikings secured four victories via pin, three via technical fall and one via major decision.
Minot State won three matches against Sioux Falls. Gavin Turk won a 17-1 technical fall against Ashtin Johnson at 174 and Shafer Ehmke won via forfeit at 197. The Cougars had two pins, two major decisions, two decisions and one technical fall.
The Beavers compete at the NCAA Super Region V Tournament in Marshall, Minn., on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m.
