Men’s Basketball: Beavers drop 8th straight in tight contest with Winona State

Lovasoa Andriatsarafara recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds off the bench and four others scored in double figures, but it wasn’t enough as the Minot State men’s basketball team suffered its eighth straight defeat, falling to Winona State, 67-62, on Saturday, Jan. 31, at McCown Gymnasium.

The Beavers (8-14 overall, 5-11 NSIC) erased a six-point second-half deficit, tying the game at 50 with 5:53 remaining in regulation, but the Warriors responded with a 9-0 run. Minot State could only cut the deficit to five the rest of the way.

Isaiah Alexander led the Beavers with 12 points. Deuce Benjamin (11), Kiku Parker Jr. (11) and Trey Brandt (10) also finished in double figures.

Tyler Mason netted a game-high 22 points for Winona State.

The Beavers dropped a 91-88 decision to Concordia-St. Paul the night before despite a stat-stuffing performance from Darik Dissette. The former North Dakota Gatorade Player of the Year poured in 15 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out six assists, recorded five steals and added a block.

Trey Brandt led the Beavers with 21 points, going 4-for-5 from 3.

Minot State led the majority of the second half, but the Golden Bears took the lead for good after a 3-pointer from Ben Kopetzki put C-SP up 84-83 with 2:39 remaining. The Golden Bears outscored the Beavers by 10 in the second half.

The Beavers host Bemidji State on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m. at the MSU Dome.

Starting at $2.99/week.
