Girls Gymnastics: Minot United wins dual with Northwest Stars

The Minot United girls gymnastics team completed a home-and-home season sweep of the Northwest Stars on Friday, Feb. 13, with a 134.100-115.200 victory in the final dress rehearsal before the West Region meet.

Minot United coach Cassie Davis said she handed the reins to the gymnasts themselves in their final dual of the season, allowing them to pick and choose which events to take part in. As a result, not all of them competed for the all-around title and sat out some of the events.

The Stars – a co-op consisting of Ray, Stanley and Tioga – took the top three spots in the all-around, led by Presley Hill, who finished with a score of 35.300. She won both the balance beam (8.900) and the uneven bars (9.025) and was third in the floor exercises (9.075). Laikyn Halverson placed fourth in the all-around with a score of 32.150 to lead Minot United. Lidia Chen (31.500) and Jade Fenner-Zaste (30.375) were fifth and sixth, respectively.

There was a 5-way tie for the vault title among Eilee Summers and Cambre Faulkner of Northwest Stars and Adylin Belnap, Halverson and Keira Davis of Minot United. All scored an 8.400.

Davis won the floor exercise title with a score of 9.575. Belnap took second with a 9.350.

Lexi McLeod finished runner-up on the balance beam with a score of 8.750. Chen (8.600) and Gracyn Bergan (8.400) were third and fourth, respectively. Bergan finished third on the uneven bars.

Minot United competes in the West Region Meet at Jerry Meyer Arena at Jamestown High School on Friday, Feb. 20, at 5 p.m.

Starting at $2.99/week.
