Beavers softball sweeps home double header

The Minot State Beavers swept the Bismarck State College in a double header in their first games at home since their annual Bubble Invitational to open the 2026 regular season in late January. The Beavers and the Mystics faced off under the protective cover of the MSU Bubble on Wednesday night, Feb. 25.
The first game of the double header started with the Mystics taking charge in the top of the first inning. The Mystics led 2-0 through the top of the second, until Minot State junior Maizy Whitlow hit a three-run home run for the Beavers. The Beavers double and triple-downed on their lead over the Mystics with their second home run of the night, this time coming from junior Isabelle Anderson in the bottom of the fourth inning and an RBI double into left-center field by sophomore Sarah Misner in the bottom of the fifth.
The Mystics only scored again in the top of the seventh inning, earning just two runs and giving the Beavers their first victory of the night at 5-4.
The second game of the double header saw the Beavers hit their offensive and defensive stride against the Mystics.
The Beavers scored seven unanswered runs through the first three innings of the game. The Mystics scored just one run in the top of the fourth inning, and the Beavers added two more to their score in the bottom of the fifth. The game was called after the conclusion of the fifth inning with the Beavers walking away with their second win of the night at 9-1.
The Beavers softball team improved to a record of 8-2 on the season and reached a win streak of four. They will be back on the road heading into their next pair of games as they head to Jamestown to take on the University of Jamestown on Thursday, Feb. 26.
