Winn named new head coach of Honeybees
Kendall Winn
After helping guide the Minot Honeybees to an appearance in the Northwoods League Championship Series in 2025 as an assistant coach, Kendall Winn has been named the new head coach of the softball program entering its third season.
Winn takes over for former skipper Craig Montvidas.
“I’m incredibly grateful to Monica (Hocking) and the entire Honeybees organization for the trust and opportunity to lead this team,” Winn said in a statement. “The support in Minot is special, and last season proved this team is ready to compete. I’m excited to lead this program, represent the community, and give our athletes and fans a summer of softball they’ll be proud to be part of.”
Winn is no stranger to the softball diamond, playing collegiately at Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y. While playing for the Panthers, Winn earned Northeast 10 all-conference second team honors as a utility player her junior season and as a catcher in her senior campaign. She was also named to the NE10 all-championship team as a senior.
Winn led the team with a .509 batting average as a senior in 2024, driving in 14 RBIs. As a junior, Winn started all 55 games at third base and batted .442 with 10 doubles and three home runs, driving in 26 runs.
A native of Fairborn, Ohio, Winn played her high school softball at Fairborn High School. She broke the school’s single-season records for doubles and runs scored during her sophomore season. Winn was named Fairborn High School Most Valuable Player in 2018. That same year, she was named to the all-greater Western Ohio Conference second team. In 2019, she earned a spot on the all-greater Western Ohio Conference first team.
Winn holds a degree in Sport Management.
Winn will make her head coaching debut against the newest addition to the Northwoods League in the Grand Forks Spitfires on June 9 in Grand Forks. The Honeybees begin the home portion of their schedule later in the week when they host the defending champion Madison Night Mares on June 12.
