Prep Gymnastics: Minot United sweeps events in dual victory over NW Stars

The Minot United girls gymnastics team took the top spot in all four events and had the top five all-around scores in a 143.150-91.400 victory over NW Stars in the Chalk War Dual on Friday, Jan. 9, at Rebel Athletics of Minot.

Adylin Belnap claimed the top score on both the uneven bars and balance beam and teammate Keira Davis did the same in the floor exercises and on the vault. The duo finished 1-2 in the all-around, with Belnap taking the top spot with a total score of 36.250. Davis finished with a score of 35.700.

Davis had the top score of the event, earning a 9.600 in the floor exercises. Minot United had the top six scores in the event, with Belnap (9.450), Gracyn Bergan (9.250) and Pavyn Peterson (9.150) all accumulating scores over 9.000.

Davis scored a 9.100 in the vault, edging out Bergan, who earned a score of 9.050. Peterson took third with a score of 8.500.

Minot United dominated in the uneven bars, earning the top six scores, led by Belnap’s 9.000. Peterson (8.800), Bergan (8.700), Cadence Bagi (8.650) and Davis (8.400) rounded out the top five.

The Cardinals had their best showing on the balance beam, as Eilee Summers finished second with a score of 8.950. It was still a distant second, as Belnap ran away with the event, earning a 9.500. Summers was also NW Stars top performer in the floor exercises and on the uneven bars. She finished sixth in the all-around with a total score of 33.800.

Cambre Faulkner took eighth in the all-around for the Cardinals. Ten of the top 12 performers belonged to Minot United. Bergan (35.350), Peterson (35.000) and Bagi (34.500) rounded out the top five in the all-around.

Minot United competes in the Mandan Invitational on Friday, Jan. 16, at 5 p.m.
