Prep Gymnastics: Minot United nabs 5th runner-up finish of season at Jamestown Meet
Another meet, another 1-2-3 finish for the Dickinson, Minot United and Jamestown gymnastics teams, this one coming at the Jamestown Meet on Friday, Jan. 23, at the Jamestown Gymnastics Academy.
The Mavericks won their ninth meet of the season in as many opportunities, finishing with a team score of 149.250, winning all four events as well as the all-around title. The real battle was for second, with Minot United coming out on top with a score of 141.925 points. Minot United edged out Jamestown, which took third with a score of 139.425. Bismarck Century (137.425) and Mandan (128.300) rounded out the top five of the nine-team event.
Dickinson, Minot United and Jamestown have competed in the same event four times this season, with the Mavericks winning all four and Minot United coming in second each time. The Blue Jays placed third in all four.
Dickinson’s Aspen Roadarmel won the all-around title with a final score of 38.525. She won the vault, balance beam and floor exercise, scoring a 9.700, a 9.600 and a 9.575, respectively. Teammate Brooklyn Wariner earned the victory in the uneven bars with a score of 9.800. Dickinson’s Sophie Flores placed second in the all-around with a score of 36.600. She placed in the top five in the vault, uneven bars and balance beam.
Adilyn Belnap was the top performer for Minot United, placing third in the all-around just behind Flores with a 36.225. Belnap was second in the balance beam (9.500), third in the floor exercise (9.425), fourth in the uneven bars (9.000) and tied for fifth in the vault (9.200).
Keira Davis placed second in both the vault (9.400) and floor exercise (9.475). Gracyn Bergan finished tied for fourth in the floor exercise, scoring a 9.400 and tied for fifth in the vault with a score of 9.200. The floor exercise was Minot United’s strongest event, placing three gymnasts in the top five.
