Girls Gymnastics: Minot United places 2nd at Mandan Meet

The Minot United gymnastics team may not be winning all of its meets, but they have solidified themselves as the primary competition to Dickinson’s rein over the sport for the last decade.
Minot United again placed second behind Dickinson, this time at the Mandan Meet on Thursday, Jan. 15, at Starion Sports Complex. Minot United has finished runners-up to the Mavericks in every meet the two teams have competed in this season. Minot United’s lone meet victory came at the Mandan Christmas Meet on Dec. 19 in which Dickinson did not compete.
The two teams were on the mat Thursday, with Dickinson sweeping all four events and the all-around, accumulating a total team score of 149.400 to win its eighth competition in as many attempts this season. Minot United finished with a score of 142.775. Jamestown (138.775), Bismarck Century (137.750) and Mandan (132.850) rounded out the top five. Seven WDA teams competed.
Dickinson’s Aspen Roadarmel captured the top spot in the vault, balance beam and floor exercises, winning the all-around as a result with 38.475 points. Roadarmel scored a 9.700 on the vault, a 9.600 on the balance beam and a 9.625 in the floor exercises. She placed second in the uneven bars with a score of 9.550. Her fellow teammate, Brooklyn Warner won the event with a 9.600.
Minot United’s Kiera Davis finished second in the all-around with a score of 35.975. She was second in the vault (9.350), third in the floor exercises (9.500), and seventh on the balance beam (9.125).
Adylin Belnap and Gracyn Bergan both placed in the top eight in the all-around with scores of 35.625 and 35.400, respectively. Belnap was sixth in both the balance beam and floor exercises and eighth in the uneven bars. Bergan took sixth on the vault and eighth in the floor exercises.
Minot United’s best event was the floor exercises, placing four gymnasts in the top eight.
