Girls Basketball: Majettes keep rolling; Sentinels drop 8th straight

Kinley Bartsch and Leelee Bell each topped twenty points, netting 23 and 21, respectively as the top-ranked Minot High girls basketball team remained unbeaten with an 83-61 victory over Bismarck St. Mary’s on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Magic City Campus. Bell finished with a double-double, pulling down 14 rebounds.

The Majettes shot 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3. The Majettes led 41-29 at halftime.

Minot High (15-0 overall, 11-0 WDA) held a 22-10 edge in points off turnovers.

Sisi Stevick and Maggie Fricke also finished in double figures, scoring 14 and 13 points, respectively.

The Majettes play at Bismarck High on Friday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m.

Minot North hung touch with Bismarck Legacy, but dropped its eighth consecutive game, falling to the Sabers, 73-60.

The Sentinels trailed by just two points at 34-32 at halftime, but were outscored by 11 in the second half.

Both teams shot similarly from the field, with the Sentinels (3-10, 1-9) shooting 39.3 percent and 26.9 percent from 3, while the Sabers (9-4, 6-4) shot 42 percent overall and 35.3 percent from 3. Cambree Phillips led Minot North with 25 points. Elli Laskowski added 22.

Mya Hieb led the Sabers with 18 points.

Legacy scored 26 points in transition and 25 points off turnovers.

The Sentinels host Dickinson on Friday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m.
