Boys Hockey: Bradley nets hat trick as Minot United wins 10th straight

Easton Bradley entered Monday’s rescheduled game against Williston with two goals through the first 11 games.

He surpassed his season’s total in his 12th game alone, registering a hat trick to help the Minot United boys hockey team defeat Williston, 5-3, on Jan. 5 at Maysa Arena. Minot United has now won 10 straight games and remains unbeaten in WDA play.

The Coyotes (4-5-1-1 overall, 2-5-1-1 WDA) had upset on their mind early, netting a pair of goals nine seconds apart less than four minutes into the contest. Jacen Rustand scored both.

Jaxon Dahl started the comeback, splitting the deficit in half with a goal at 6:53 of the first period. Tait Thorson and Michael Ell had the assists. The line of Bradley, Oliver Thompson and Tate Haugenoe went to work on their shift midway through the stanza. Bradley put the puck in the back of the net twice and Thompson and Haugenoe provided the assists on both plays less than a minute apart to put Minot United ahead 3-2.

Williston’s Brody Smith netted the equalizer just over a minute later as the two teams went to the second intermission tied 3-3.

Keller Schmeichel potted the game-winning goal for Minot United at 8:53 of the third and Bradley secured his hat trick with his third of the night with 1:04 left.

Minot United (10-2-0-0, 8-0-0-0) held a 47-20 advantage in shots on goal.

Canton Christians started between the pipes for Minot United, making nine saves on 12 shots faced in the first period before being replaced by Luke Richeson to start the second. Richeson stopped all eight shots he faced.

Williston’s Colin Schipferling finished with 42 saves.

Minot United hosts Devils Lake in a non-region contest on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 6:15 p.m. at Maysa Arena.
