Girls Basketball: Dale Brown Hoopster Class Roundup Day 1
The first day of the Dale Brown Hoopster Classic on the girls side featured decisive victories in all three games played at the Minot State University Dome on Saturday, Dec. 27.
Rugby used a strong start and solid defense in its rout of Beulah in the second game of the day on the girls side. TGU’s 64-36 victory over Stanley featured 21 points from Bostyn Bailey and 10 more from Brooke Best.
The Titans used a 16-6 second quarter to build a 31-19 lead at the break before extending their advantage to 51-32 after three.
Taya Niemitalo led the Blue Jays with 13 points.
Top-ranked Benson County continued its dominant season with a 78-30 victory over Des Lacs-Burlington.
The Wildcats’ offense couldn’t be stopped through the first three quarters. They put up 34 points in the first quarter and had 54 at halftime. Benson County led by 50 entering the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats had four players finish in double figures, led by 22 points from Kaitlyn Maddock. Aubrey Kenner added 18, and Lacie Fautsch and Addisyn Faul put up 14 and 11, respectively.
Sierra Yale had a team-high 12 points for the Lakers.
Benson County has won five of its first seven games by 25-plus points.
