Class B girls basketball: Our Redeemer’s claims Nedrose Tournament crown

The Our Redeemer’s girls basketball team is hoping this is just the first of many trophies it will be lifting this season.

The Knights overcame a slow first half in which they put up just 14 points and trailed by four to rally in the second half for a 49-39 victory over Minot High’s sophomore squad to win the Nedrose Tournament at Nedrose High School on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Kadyn Braun led the Knights with 24 points, helping them battle back with a strong second half. Our Redeemer’s scored more points in the third quarter alone than it did through the entire first half, putting up 18 points to take a 36-28 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Knights outscored Minot High 13-11 in the fourth to take the tournament title.

MacKenzie Bachmeier led the Majettes with 16 points. Hadley Faul had 10 points.

Braun finished the three-day tournament with 53 points. The Knights opened the tournament, which was delayed due to inclement weather on Tuesday, with a 44-31 victory over Stanley and then knocked off Berthold in the semifinals, 43-40.

Berthold claimed third place with its 44-43 win over Garrison. Tournament-host Nedrose took fifth over Stanley and Surrey finished seventh, defeating North Prairie.

Our Redeemer’s travels to play Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood on Saturday, Dec. 20.
