Beavers Athletics 13th after fall season
With fall sports moving into the final rounds of NCAA Championship action, the NSIC announced its annual All-Sports standings through the first season of competition, and the Minot State athletic department finds itself 13th in the league’s early standings.
Minot State earned 26.5 points during the fall sports season – for the fall sports of volleyball, women’s soccer, football, and men’s and women’s cross country.
The Minot State men’s sports teams of football and cross country were 12th in the NSIC All-Sports standings with 7.5 points, and the Minot State women’s sports teams of volleyball, soccer, and cross country were 13th with 19 points.
The winner of each title in a conference-sponsored championship sport receives points totaling the number of teams in that sport, plus one. The next-place finisher receives points totaling the number of teams less the number of places from first place. Ties in the standings at any level result in the totaling of points and equal distribution.
Minnesota State, Mankato, leads the overall All-Sports standings with 68 points, while Augustana is second with 59 points. The Mavericks also lead the women’s All-Sports standings with 45 points, while Augustana leads the men’s All-Sports standings with 28 points.
Minot State finished 13th in last year’s NSIC All-Sports standings. The standings will be updated in early spring following the winter sports season’s of basketball, indoor track and field, and wrestling, and the final standings will be released in the summer following the completion of the spring sports.
