Beavers are back on the road to Jamestown
Mike Kraft/MDN Minot State and Jamestown renew their rivalry on Wednesday, Dec. 10, when the two teams meet in Jamestown. The Beavers and Jimmies have met four times thus far this season, with Minot State winning three of those contests.
The Minot State Beavers hockey team look to extend their seven-game win streak as they head into their away game against No. 7 ranked University of Jamestown this Wednesday night, Dec. 10.
The Beavers are heading back on the road this week after sweeping Liberty University in their two-game series in Lynchburg, VA 5-0 and 4-1. The Beavers have a historically excellent record against the University of Jamestown Jimmies, having won 31 of their 35 program games since the 2021-2022 season. The Beavers have scored a total of 121goals against the Jimmies over the years, averaging 3.36 goals per game. Their largest margin of victory against the Jimmies was in March of 2022, where they beat the University of Jamestown at home 9-0. The Beavers have already faced the Jimmies four times this season, including in their home opener. Then No. 6 University of Jamestown fell to the Beavers 3-2 in Jamestown, but the Jimmies quickly earned their revenge, defeating Minot State 4-3 in overtime to put the teams at a 1-1 record against each other. The Beavers and the Jimmies faced off again Nov. 14 and 15 at the Maysa Arena 3-1 and 2-1.
Junior forward Colby Joseph is the Beavers’ top scorer heading into their game against the Jimmies, earning the team a total of 21 points and averaging 1.5 points per game. Junior defensiveman Matthew Yakubowski isn’t far behind, totalling 17 points so far for the season and averaging 1.06 points per game.
Junior left wing Brad Fortin is the top scorer for the Jimmies heading into Wednesday’s game, totalling 19 points for the University of Jamestown and averaging exactly one point per game.
The Beavers head into the game on Wednesday with an overall record of 14-1-0, going 6-1-0 in conference play. The Jimmies enter Wednesday with an 11-8-0 record on the season, with just one loss and no wins in conference play this season. Wednesday’s game will begin at 7 p.m. in Jamestown.
