Prep Volleyball: Class AA regular season concludes
Tuesday, Nov. 4, served as the final day of a regular season that started way back in late August. After 18 region matches and several other non-conference contests, the seedings for the upcoming West Region Tournament is set.
Six teams have advanced, with four more playing for two spots on Thursday, Nov. 6. Minot North will host Bismarck St. Mary’s and Mandan will host Williston in the play-in round. The proper tournament begins on Thursday, Nov. 13, in Mandan.
Bismarck Century is the top seed after sitting atop the standings throughout the season, winning 17 of 18 conference matches. Minot High is the No. 2 seed, winning the tiebreaker with Jamestown. The two split during the regular season, but the Majettes won the tiebreaker by winning four sets in the two meetings compared to three for the Blue Jays. The Majettes will await the winner of Mandan/Williston to determine their quarterfinal opponent.
Bismarck Legacy is the No.4 seed after winning the head-to-head tiebreaker with Bismarck High, which is the No. 5 seed. The two will play each other in the quarterfinal. Mandan is the No. 6 seed and plays Jamestown.
The Patriots have won the last 11 WDA Tournaments. Bismarck St. Mary’s in 2013 is the last time a team other than Century won the tournament.
