Boys Hockey: Minot United opens season with two losses out East

The Minot United era got off to a bumpy start for the boys hockey team, as it dropped the puck on the season with a pair of losses to East Region opponents over the weekend.

Minot United scored a single goal over the two games, falling to Fargo Davies, 4-0, on Friday, Nov. 21, before a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Fargo North the following afternoon.

Fargo Davies put up 57 shots on Minot United goaltender Canton Christians, who finished with 54 saves.

The Eagles grabbed the lead just 2:15 into regulation on a goal from Sam Glur. They tacked on two more in the second and another in the third. Beau Rademacher had a goal and two assists, while Noah Schmidt added a goal and an assist.

Cole Richeson tallied Minot United’s first goal of the season the following day, getting Minot United (0-2) on the board at 4:28 of the second period to cut Fargo North’s lead to 2-1. Oliver Thompson and Easton Bradley had the assists on the play.

The Spartans broke the game open with two more goals before the end of the second period to take a 4-1 lead. Conner Amundson lit the lamp with just 34 seconds left. Peyton Rohrich recorded one of his three assists on the play.

Maxim Hall got the start in net for Minot United. He faced 29 shots and finished with 25 saves. Minot United plays its home opener against Williston on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Maysa Arena.
