Rostad Leads Beavers With Top-10 Finish In Minnesota

The Minot State men’s and women’s golf teams wrapped up play Tuesday, September 23 at the Jewel Invitational, capping off two competitive days at the Jewel Golf Club.

The Minot State men’s team finished tied for 8th place with a two-day total of 588. Freshman Kasen Rostad continued his impressive start to the season, placing tied for 9th with a 4-under-par total of 140 (69-71). The performance marked Rostad’s first career top-10 finish and built on his career-best opening round of 69 on Monday.

Zach Hendrickson also turned in a strong performance, placing 26th overall with a two-day total of 145 (+1). Max Karnik finished the tournament tied for 45th at 150 (+6). Gunther Soltvedt tied for 53rd at 153 (+9). Gage Olson finished 62nd at 156 (+12) and Fischer Johnson closed out the lineup in 72nd at 169 (+25).

Winona State finished the tournament on top, winning the team title by shooting 546 (-30). Peyton Coahran of Winona State took home the individual championship title shooting 135 (-9).

On the women’s side, Minot State finished 10th overall with a two-day team total of 677. The Beavers were led by a pair of consistent performances from Zoe Banack and Abigail Goettle, who tied for 32nd at 162 (+20). Meadow Roberts followed behind the duo finishing in 49th at 171 (+29). Macie Sebelius finished tied for 64th at 182 (+40) and Micaela Resler placed 71st at 212 (+70).

Arkansas-Fort Smith won the women’s team title with a total score of 592 (+24). Minnesota State’s Emerson Garlie took home the individual championship at 141 (-1).

Both Minot State teams now turn their attention to the next stop on their fall schedule, which will be in Bismarck where both teams will play in the 5th annual Marauders Tournament. The teams will compete at the Hawktree Golf Course next Monday and Tuesday, September 29 and 30.
