Prep Football: Aggies drop to No. 4 in latest Class A media poll

After suffering its first loss of the season, Velva-Drake-Anamoose-Garrison fell three spots from the top-ranked spot to No. 4 in the most recent Class A state media poll, released on Wednesday, Sept. 3. The Aggies suffered a 10-8 loss at Harvey-Wells County and have scored just 24 points in two games this season.

Langdon Area-Munich claimed the new No. 1 spot and received 13 of 16 first-place votes, moving up one spot from last week. The Cardinals pitched a 34-0 shutout of Valley City last week and have outscored their two opponents 68-6. Dickinson Trinity also rose one spot in the rankings to move to No. 3 and Harvey-Wells County cracked the top 5 with its victory over V-D-A-G. Bishop Ryan-Our Redeemer’s, Park River Area and Central McLean also received votes in the Class A poll.

Despite the loss, the Aggies remain ranked for the 13th consecutive week.

In 9-man, the top team remained the same with New Rockford-Sheyennee-Maddock receiving 12 first-place votes. LaMoure-Litchville-Marion received three first-place votes and stayed at No. 2. NR-S-M dominated St. John at home, 70-6, while L-L-M didn’t play.

Linton-HMB received the final first-place vote and switched spots North Border in the rankings at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Grant County/Flasher rounded out the top 5. Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood, which was tied at No. 5 in last week’s poll, dropped out of the top five, but received votes along with Hankinson and Griggs-Midkota.
