Magicians drop at home in last-minute loss

Nathan Beitler/MDN Minot High sophomore Grayson Steele fights for control of the ball against two defenders in the Magicians’ home game against the Legacy Sabers.
The Minot High Magicians lost their home game against the Legacy Sabers 2-1 Thursday night, September 11 after a close last five minutes of the match.
The Sabers were the first to put themselves on the board for an early start for the match in just the fifth minute. From there, it was save after save for both teams through the first half and through most of the second.
It seemed like the game would end with just one goal on the board when junior midfielder Dylan Oswalt scored into the corner of the net in the 76th minute of the match. Oswalt was assisted in his goal by senior defender Caleb Carr. It appeared then that the game would end in a tie, but Legacy once again took the lead just a minute later in the 77th minute of the match. Legacy senior midfielder Uriel Rivera Patricio scored the game winning for the Sabers. From there, the Sabers were able to keep Minot from scoring, ending the match with a 2-1 loss for the Magicians.
The results of Thursday’s match on September 11 continues Legacy’s winning streak and gives the Magicians another loss on their record.
Minot will next take on Mandan/St. Mary’s away on Tuesday, September 16.
