Honkers fall to Lewis & Clark

The Kenmare/Bowbells Honkers took home a loss against the Lewis & Clark Longhorns 12-40 in their away game Friday night, September 5.

The Longhorns took home the lion’s share of offensive yards, earning a total gain of 386 yards over the four quarters. Of their total yardage, the Longhorns rushed the ball 323 yards on 35 total carries of the ball, including five rushing touchdowns. The Longhorns completed four of their eight passes, including one passing touchdown, earning them the remaining 63 yards of the ball game.

The Honkers had just 286 yards of offensive play. Just 106 yards of their offensive push were earned by rushing over the course of 36 carries. Honker junior quarterback Jacob Zorn attempted to pass the ball 23 times, and 13 successful passes gave the Honkers 180 of their offensive yards during the away game. In all, the Honkers had one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown. Two failed two-point conversions left the Honkers with just 12 points at the end of the game.

Quarterback Jacob Zorn carried the ball the most for the Honkers with a total of 28 times during the game for a total of 65 yards gained. Honkers junior Lincoln Spear had just seven carries over the course of the game, gaining 39 yards before the end of the game.

The Kenmare/Bowbells Honkers are set to return home for their next game on Friday night, Sept. 12 against the Towner-Granville-Upham Titans. The Hinkers will go into their next game with a record of 0-3.
