Beavers volleyball faces tough match ahead

The Minot State Beavers volleyball team fell Tuesday, September 23 in their match against the Mary Marauders 3-1.

The Beavers fell behind early on, losing the first set against the Marauders 25-22. The Beavers trailed by as many as six points in one instance of the first set before the Marauders secured it for good. Minot State had their own six point victory in the second set of the match, winning set two 25-19. The lead traded back and forth three times, with Minot trailing by as many as five at one point in the set before they were able to stampede through the last half of the set, tying the match 1-1.

The Marauders bounced back quickly in set number three. The Beavers lost the set 25-17, trailing by as many as nine points at one point in the set. The Beavers were unable to recover heading into the fourth set, and lost it to the Marauders with a score of 25-20. The Beavers lost the match three sets to one at the end of the night.

Junior outside hitters Emily Willis and Caton Pearcy topped Minot State’s kill chart against the Marauders with 10 each. They were the only two players for the Beavers to reach double-digit kills for the night. Pearcy also led the Beavers in digs against the Marauders with a total of 15 through the match. The Beavers walked away from the night with a new record of 1-10 for the season.

The Beavers are set to take on the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears at home on Friday, September 26. The last time the Beavers faced the Golden Bears was on October 4 of 2024 where they lost 3-0. The Beavers are looking for their first win against Concordia-St. Paul, as they head into Friday’s match with a 0-15 historical record against the Golden Bears. The Golden Bears are ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Central Region. The Beavers are unranked. The match will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 26 at the Minot State Dome.
