The Minot State Beavers’ football team will play their homecoming game of their 100th season on Saturday, September 13 at home against the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears.
The Beavers are heading into their homecoming game with an 0-2 record in their historic 100th season. In their first game of the season, the Beavers traveled out of state to take on Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. Emporia took home the victory with a 7-27 score. Minot State’s only touchdown of the game came from junior Blake Espino with a two-yard run into the end zone. Minot State had just eleven first downs in the game and 216 total offensive yards.
Minot State’s second game of the season was also away, this time at Minnesota State University in Mankato. The Beavers continued to struggle, but were able to secure an extra touchdown and a field goal more than the previous week. Minnesota State took an early lead in the first quarter with a touchdown. Minot State first put themselves on their board with a 29-yard field goal kicked by sophomore Brandon McCary in the second quarter. Minnesota scored their own field goal before the half was over, giving them a 10-3 lead going into the second half.
Minnesota scored another field goal before the Beavers put their first touchdown on the board in the third quarter off of a 25-yard run by sophomore Devan Daniels. Minnesota scored two touchdowns in the third quarter as well. Senior quarterback Carson Chrisman earned the Beavers’ last points of the game with less than two minutes on the board with a 2-yard run, but missed the extra point. Minnesota scored their own touchdown in the fourth, securing their victory over Minot 34-16.
Both Minot State and Concordia-St. Paul are 0-2 going into the Beavers’ homecoming game. Minot State will hold their homecoming parade at 10:30 a.m. before the game. The game against Concordia-St. Paul will be held at 2 p.m. at Herb Parker Stadium.
