Magi sweep Coyotes 6-0 at home

The Minot High Magicians took down the Williston Coyotes 6-0 during their Thursday, Aug. 28 home game.

The Magi got off to an early lead in the thirteenth minute of the match off of a corner kick to No. 12 junior Nolan Schmidt. Schmidt was able to head the ball past the goalie to give the Magi their first goal of the game.

Minot's second goal also came off a corner kick in the 17th minute. Freshman Carson Fiske was the scorer with an assist from junior Dylan Oswalt. Oswalt would find himself assisting the Magi's third goal as well, this time scored again by Nolan Schmidt in the 21st minute of the match.

The last goal of the first half was scored by Minot's junior forward Ethan Hanson in the 34th minute of the match. He was assisted by junior Matthew Wistisen. Hanson's goal was the first of the game to not come as the result of a corner kick. The score was 4-0 for the Magi heading into the second half.

The second half saw a lot of back and forth action between Minot and the Coyotes until Dylan Oswalt scored a goal of his own for the Magicians. He was assisted in his goal by freshman midfielder Carson Fiske.

The last score of the game came once again from the Magi off of an unassisted goal by junior forward Tayson Solper. The score was 6-0 for the Magi when the second half ended.

Minot has a record of 4-1 after their game against Williston on Thursday night, Aug. 28. They will play Mandan/St. Mary's at home for their next game on Saturday, Aug. 30.
