Local teams participate in controlled scrimmage

Mike Kraft/MDN Minot High junior wide receiver Tariq Bell finds running room in the open field as Minot North senior Landon Salyards looks to make a tackle during a controlled scrimmage on Thursday, Aug. 14, at Minot North High School. The controlled scrimmage featured four teams ranging from Class AAA to Class A. The teams participating were Minot High, Minot North, Bishop Ryan and Velva/Drake-Anamoose/Garrison. All four teams advanced to the postseason last year, with Minot High, Minot North and V/D-A/G winning their respective conferences and regions. The Aggies are the defending Class A state champion. Each individual scrimmage lasted 30 minutes, with both teams playing offense and defense for 15 minutes.
