Guerro scores two to give Sentinels first win
The Minot North Sentinels boys’ soccer team took home their first win of the season in their home debut 3-0 over the Williston Coyotes.
The Sentinels got off to an early lead in the second minute of the match with senior center midfielder Emerson Ries shooting over the hand of the Coyotes goalie for the Sentinel’s first goal of the game.
Neither team would score again until the 38th minute of the first half when Sentinels junior midfielder No. 28 Christian Guerro kicked the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal, thwarting the goalie’s save attempt.
Both teams had a strong defensive second half until Guerro scored his second goal of the game in the 74th minute of the match on a penalty kick into the upper right hand corner of the goal.
The game ended at the conclusion of the second half with the Sentinels taking home their first win of the season 3-0. The Sentinels ended the game with 16 shots taken and the Coyotes ended with four.
The Sentinels will be 1-2-0 going into their next match where they will play Minot High away Thursday, August 21.
