DL-B’s Christianson wins medalist honors
Des Lacs-Burlington junior Laila Christianson carded a 2-over 73 in her final round to claim medalist honors at the Class B East-West Classic at Pheasant County Golf Course on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Christianson shot a 78 in her opening round and sat in third place behind Oak Grove’s Ellie Zuger and Claire Lee, who shot 74 and 75, respectively, the prior day. Both Zugar and Lee shot 78s on the final day, allowing Christianson to jump both of them on the leaderboard. Christianson birdied the par-5 fifth and ninth holes, as well as the par-4 14th. She also carded 10 pars.
The Lakers finished third as a team with a score of 669, finishing behind Oak Grove (634) and Heart River (666). Kindred (680) and Linton-HMB (717) rounded out the top five. DL-B placed three golfers in the top 15, with Ella Pearson (159) and Lauryn Christianson (169) finishing sixth and tied for 12th, respectively.
Bottineau junior Ellee Rybchinski tied for seventh with a score of 162 and Kenmare/Bowbells senior McKenna Mau carded a 168 for an 11th-place finish.
The Honkers placed sixth as a team with a score of 738 and Bottineau finished eighth in the 17-team field with a score of 760. Central Cass (740), LaMoure-Litchville-Marion (804) and Hazen (822) rounded out the top 10.
