Brady Calkins wins 45th Western ND Charity Pro Am
Brady Calkins of La Quinta, CA took home first place and the $22,000 grand prize for his performance in the Thursday, August 14 – Sunday, August 17 tournament at the Vardon Golf Club.
Calkins earned his first place finish over the course of four rounds. He ended the tournament with a total score of 28 under par, averaging seven under par per round. His best rounds were his first and second, with stroke counts of 63 on both. He earned 30 birdies or better throughout the four rounds.
Second place in the tournament was earned by Eric Lilleboe out of Okemos, MI. Lilleboe had just one more stroke than Calkins with a total score of 27 under par. Lilleboe took home the second place prize of $14,000.
The single best round of the tournament came from third place finisher Charlie Crockett out of New Braunfels, TX. Crockett finished the first round of the tournament with a score of 61, eleven under par. He hit eleven birdies or better and just one bogey.
The Vardon has hosted the Western ND Charity Pro-Am since 1983 as part of the Dakotas Tour. Over its tenure, the tournament was raised and donated over 2.5 million dollars to charities in North Dakota. The tournament has generated over $200,000 in donations for Ward County charities from 2020 through 2023 alone. Winners of past Western ND Charity Pro-Am tournaments include 1996 US Open winner Steve Jones and 1996 Open Championship winner Tom Lehman.
The next tournament as part of the Dakotas Tour will be held at the Oxbow Country Club in Oxbow, North Dakota on Wednesday, August 20.
