Boys Tennis: Legacy rolls past Minot North

Bismarck Legacy won its top five singles matches and swept a trio of doubles contests, defeating Minot North, 8-1, in a West Region tilt on Thursday, Aug. 28.

Minot North’s Reece Blikre had the best day on the court for the Sentinels, topping Kevin Kalb, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 6 singles for his team’s lone win of the day. Blikre and Parker Vigestad nearly came away with a victory at No. 3 doubles, but Legacy’s Andrew Jones and Kalb escaped with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 victory. The Sabers (3-2 overall, 1-0 West Region) easily won their matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, dropping just three of the 27 games.

The Sabers needed a third-set tiebreaker at No. 1 singles, as Connor Svihovec outlasted Colton Griffith, 5-7, 6-1, 6-0. Legacy’s Brady Johnson at No. 2 singles and Carter Madison at No. 3 singles both needed to win an additional game in the opening set against their opponents to win their matches in straight sets.

The Sentinels (1-5, 0-2) are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 2, when they travel to play Mandan at 4 p.m.

Starting at $2.99/week.
