Vardon GC hosts junior golf tourney
The Vardon Golf Course hosted a junior golf tournament on Thursday as part of the Dakota Junior Golf Association’s ’25 Applebee’s Tour.
The event featured junior golfers from around that state, including a number from Minot and the surrounding area. Recent Minot North graduate Kasen Rostad took second place in the Boys 16-18 division, and Minot High freshman Paker Argent took third place in the same division.
Rostad hit five under par for a score of 67 during the tournament. He hit just one birdie on Thursday while on the fifth hole. He earned six birdies during the same round.
Argent was not far behind, earning two under par with a total stroke count of 70 strokes. He hit two bogies on the third and sixteenth holes. He earned birdies on four holes of the Vardon.
Des Lacs-Burlington sophomore Laila Christianson took home first place in the Girls 16-18 division with a score of 66. She earned a six under par on the course, six strokes ahead of the second place finisher. She was just one stroke away from tying the best score of the day. Christianson was also the 2024 NDHSAA Class B Girls Golf Individual State Champion during the 2024 State Championship.
The Dakota Junior Golf Association has 21 more events planned this summer, including the ’25 Minot All City 2 Day Event to be held at the Souris River Golf Course.
