The Minot Hot Tots closed out their first string of home games for the new season Monday night.

The Hot Tots played the Mankato MoonDogs to end their first homestand of the season. Their first home game of the season was on opening day Monday, May 26, against the St. Cloud Rox.

The Hot Tots then began their series against the Willmar Stingers on Wednesday, May 28. After Willmar, they played the MoonDogs.

The Hot Tots lost their Monday night game against the MoonDogs 1-8 to continue their eight game losing streak.

The team’s only run of the evening was scored by outfielder Cole Meyer. He scored on a pop out hit by Henry Allen to make the score 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth.

Neither team scored again until the eighth inning where MoonDogs’ Sean Griggs and Cooper Milford scored off of a single hit by Dylan Drake making the score 1-3 for the MoonDogs.

Mankato scored an additional run in the ninth inning off of a walk, bringing Cooper Neville home to make the score 1-4. The last runs of the inning were off of a grand slam over the left field fence by the MoonDogs’ Drew Veatch to bring home Caleb Koskie, Brandon Vlcko and Cooper Milford.

Tuesday and Wednesday will find the Hot Tots taking on the Bismarck Larks on their home turf at Dakota Community Bank & Trust Field in the newly renovated Bismarck Municipal Ballpark.

After playing the Larks, the Hot Tots will be back at home for another stretch of games at Corbett Field from Thursday through Sunday. They will start their new stretch of home games with a rematch against the Willmar Stingers.
