Minot North ekes out win over Mandan
Minot North High School’s boys varsity golf team beat out Mandan by one stroke at Friday’s invitational.
Minot North senior Kasen Rostad was the event’s medalist, ending the round with a 72. Rostad hit under par on seven out of eighteen holes at the Vardon Golf Course, including an eagle on his first hole of the course.
Rostad improved from last year’s Minot North Invitational where he earned an overall score of 76.
Three Minot North players placed in the top ten at the event, including Rostad. Junior Walter Langhans ended the day tied for sixth place with an overall score of 77 and freshman Teegan Dangel ended tied for eighth place with an overall score of 78.
Langhans also hit an eagle on the course’s first hole and hit four holes under par. Dangle hit three holes under par.
Minot High’s Parker Argent, a freshman, also tied for eighth place at Friday’s event with an overall score of 78.
The Minot North Sentinels ended the day with a team score of 306, barely beating out the Mandan Braves’ score of 307. The Minot Magicians took home fourth place out of twelve teams at the event with a team score of 322.
The Vardon Golf Club where the invitational was held will also host the Class A boys’ tournament in June.
