The best teams in NDHSAA Division B Boys’ Basketball are descending on Minot to compete for the state title, while those in Division A are heading to Bismarck.
In Division B, the Bishop Ryan Lions, Our Redeemer’s Knights and the defending champion Westhope/Newburg Sioux are all making repeat trips to the tournament, which is being played in the MSU Dome Thursday through Saturday.
If both Bishop Ryan and Our Redeemer’s pick up first round wins, they will face off in the semifinals. The teams have already met in both the district and regional finals, with Our Redeemer’s winning both games; the first in double overtime, and a week later in overtime. Bishop Ryan swept Our Redeemer’s in the regular season, winning 64-58 and 58-51.
The No. 2 Knights need to dispatch No. 7 Oakes Tornadoes first though. No. 3 Bishop Ryan faces No. 6 Hankinson Pirates in their opening game. No. 5 Westhope/Newburg begins its title defense against No. 4 North Border in Thursday’s nightcap.
The other game sees No. 1 Wilton-Wing taking on No. 8 New Rockford/Sheyenne Rockets.
The Des Lacs-Burlington is the lone local team competing in Division A, when the Lakers will face defending champion Devils Lake Firebirds in the quarterfinals.
