Minot State Athletics sends condolences to family of Juan Gutierrez

Minot State University’s (MSU) Kevin Harmon, Vice President for Student Affairs and Intercollegiate Athletics released a statement today after learning that former MSU student-athlete Juan Gutierrez passed away earlier this week.

“Minot State University and the Beaver Athletics family are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Juan Gutierrez. Juan was a great human being and an excellent role model for other student-athletes. Our heartfelt condolences are extended to the Gutierrez family.”

Juan joined the Beaver cross country and track and field program in the fall of 2020 and competed for three seasons at MSU. He finished in the top 100 at the 2022 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Cross Country Championships and in the Top 10 seven times in track and field at the NSIC Indoor and Outdoor Championships, five times in relays and twice in individual events.

Gutierrez medaled as the lead-off runner for the Beavers’ 4×400 relay team at the 2022 NSIC Outdoor Championships as Minot State’s team finished 3rd in 3 minutes, 20.59 seconds.
