Majettes earn one last home win

The Minot High Majettes hosted the Bismarck Legacy Sabres for their last home game of the regular season. The Majettes held a 20-1 record going into their final game and have competed very well this season and pulled off one final home win against the Sabres. Minot High took the game 70-59 over Bismarck Legacy.

The Majettes had to fight all the way through the first half of the game to take a one point lead by the end of the first half. Minot High was led by Eve Knutson in the first half. Knutson brought in nine points on the arc for the Majettes. The Sabres were led by Marlee Falcon. Falcon made four baskets out deep followed by a trip to the free throw line to earn two more points.

Camdyn Vartywas down in the paint making basket after basket and brought in six points for Minot High followed by Syndey Aberle with four more. Ariana Rod went out wide and made a 3-pointer for Minot High.

Bismarck Legacy’s Brooklyn Felchle and Sadie Hollar each made four points in the lane, Felchle collected a few fowls and made two extra points at the free throw line. Both Whitney Welk and Brooklyn Saller brought in two Sabre points, followed by one final point from Ava Lucas.

With one minute left before the first half ended the game was tied 26-26. Bell took the ball down the court and brought in two more points to break the tie, then did it again to take the 30-29 lead at half time.

The Majettes started the second half of the game with a one point lead. Bell was on fire all around the court trying to build a strong lead for Minot High. Bell made six points on the arc, eight points in the lane and five final points at the foul line. Everett Deschamp trailed behind with eight more Minot High points, six points out deep and two points under the basket.

The Sabres were once again led by Falcon with eight points. Falcon took a trip out to the wind and brought in three more points for Bismarck Legacy. Felchle made six Sabre points, followed by Hollar with two points in the lane and three at the foul line.

It was well into the second half of the game until the Majettes took a comfortable lead over the Sabres. Welk and Watson brought in six more points to try to fight Minot High’s growing lead. Abby Burman went in for two points but the Majettes retained their lead.

Minot High’s Varty and Rood each went up for three and secured the win for the Majettes. After a tough game Minot High took the 70-59 win over Bismarck Legacy.

Minot High will continue playing in the postseason starting in Bismack at the Bismarck Civic center March 6-8.
