Local boys basketball teams play final games, prep for district play
With the regular season winding down, Division B teams from District 5 and District 6 played games- some to sort out seeding for district tournaments and others to get a preview of potential Region 3 matches.
Surrey 73,

The District 5 four seeds traveled to take on the District 6 eight seeds in a Region 3 preview as district tournaments loom. Surrey defended their home hardwood with the win over the visitor from District 5.
The Mustangs were led by Colin Vollmer with 34 points on the night. Gavin Vollmer added 11 points while Logan Vollmer posted ten in the win. The 55 points recorded by the Vollmer trio were enough to win the game alone.
The Honkers were led by TJ Lucy with 16 points in the game. Cohen Sieme and Caleb Knutson each added eight points in the effort while Ryan Schoemer and Peyton Helwig each posted six points.
Westhope-Newburg 66, Garrison 64
The third ranked Sioux faced a familiar foe in Garrison. The District 8 hosts are solid at the number two slot in district standings while the visiting Sioux are also the number two seed for District 6.
The win was by two points and showcased the level of parity between the districts.
Velva 89, Powers Lake-Burke Central 87 (F/OT)
The tenth ranked Aggies hosted the Ranchers on Thursday. Powers Lake-Burke Central is the top seeded team from District 5 and played a ranked District 6 team for the second time this week.
The hosts are the four seed in District 6 with the top five seeds in the district able to win on any given court.
TGU 49, Parshall/North Shore-Plaza 39
The sixth seeded Titans traveled from District 6 to take on the ninth seeds from District 5 and were able to take the road win over Parshall/North Shore-Plaza. Both teams begin district tournament play and had a preview of potential Region 3 competition.
