MSU men sweep Waldorf on the road

ALBERT LEA, Minn. – The #1 ranked Minot State University (MSU) Beavers men’s hockey team sweeps the two-game series against Waldorf with a 6-2 victory in game two on Saturday,, January 18.
With the win, the Beavers improve to 25-2-3, while Waldorf drops to 4-16-0.
In the first period, MSU scored three goals and Waldorf scored one goal, resulting in a 3-1 lead for the Beavers after the first 20 minutes of play. The first Beaver goal was scored by Sheldin Howard and assisted by Ben Johnson. The second Beaver goal was scored by Trenton Curtis unassisted. The third Beaver goal was scored by Logan Cyca unassisted.
In the second period, MSU scored one goal and Waldorf scored one goal, resulting in a 4-2 lead for the Beavers after 40 minutes of play. The fourth Beaver goal of the game was scored by Josh Pederson and assisted by Trenton Curtis.
In the third period, MSU scored two goals and Waldorf was held scoreless by the Beaver’s goaltender, Mason Kelly, securing the 6-2 victory for MSU. The fifth Beaver goal of the game was scored by Reid Arnold unassisted. The sixth Beaver goal was scored by Ben Johnson and assisted by Reece Henry and Walker Jerome.
With the win, MSU’s goalie, Kelly, improved his record to 3-0-0.
Following the two-game series sweep over Waldorf, the Beavers will be back in action at home on Friday, January 24, against the University of Jamestown at 7:30 p.m. at the ND State Fairgrounds (All Seasons Arena) in Minot.
MSU Men’s Hockey 11, Waldorf 3
The top ranked MSU Beavers men’s hockey team scored 11 goals in their 11-3 victory over Waldorf in game one of a two-game series on Friday, January 17.
In the first period, both MSU and Waldorf found the back of the net to make it a 1-1 game after one period of play. The Beaver’s goal was scored by Colby Joseph and assisted by Joey Moffatt and Brayden Pawluk.
In the second period, the Beavers scored five goals to give MSU a 6-1 lead after two periods of play. The Beaver’s second goal of the game was scored by Colby Joseph, his second goal of the game, and assisted by Matthew Yakubowski and Brayden Pawluk. The Beaver’s third goal of the game was scored by Walker Jerome and assisted by Colby Joseph.
The Beaver’s fourth goal of the game was scored by Walker Jerome, his second goal of the game, and assisted by Colby Joseph and Logan Cyca. The Beaver’s fifth goal of the game was scored by Matthew Yakubowski unassisted. The Beaver’s sixth goal of the game was scored by Payton Jerome and assisted by Matt Egan.
In the third period, MSU scored five goals and Waldorf scored two goals to give the Beavers an 11-3 victory. The Beaver’s seventh goal of the game was scored by Sheldin Howard and assisted by Reid Arnold and Austin Clyne. The Beaver’s eighth goal of the game was scored by Brayden Pawluk and assisted by Walker Jerome.
The Beaver’s ninth goal of the game was scored by Josh Pederson and assisted by Logan Rands. The Beaver’s tenth goal of the game was scored by Brett Tataryn and assisted by Logan Cyca. The Beaver’s eleventh goal of the game was scored by Brett Tataryn, his second goal of the game, and assisted by Walker Jerome andMatt Egan.
William Dyke recorded the victory in goal for the Beavers, improving his record to 10-0-1.
